Coloured Skin
Currently In Development.

A Deaf-led experimental film exploring identity, code-switching, and self-liberation.

About the Project

Coloured Skin follows Scout, a chameleon navigating a rigid grayscale world where conformity is expected. As a radicalized Deaf person, Scout shifts between identities to survive… hiding joy, grief, and anger until the body can no longer contain it. Through mask, movement, and sign language, this project explores what it means to exist in a world that demands silence and what happens when that silence breaks.

Collaborations

In collaboration with Green Fools Theatre Society, Carodoodles, and Undivided Productions.

This work is currently evolving through physical theatre workshops, movement and film exploration with Deaf artists.

Current Status

Workshop #2 completed (March 9–27, 2026)

Supported by Canada Council for the Arts and community contributions

This project is continuing to grow and is currently seeking collaborators, funders, and partners.

From Process to Production

We’ve developed the work through workshops. Now we’re moving into film production.

This phase focuses on bringing Coloured Skin into a cinematic form, while creating space for Deaf artists to be part of the filmmaking process. We’re currently looking for collaborators, film industry professionals, and Deaf artists (emerging or professional, based in Calgary) who are interested in learning and shaping what comes next.
